Facebook is Going to make all your Private Photos Public Tomorrow — It's a Scam?

Facebook privacy is public - inspire space
Don't believe everything you read on Facebook.
Despite so many awareness about Facebook hoaxes, online users fall for them and make them viral.
One such viral post is circulating on Facebook that suggests everything that you have ever posted on the social media platform will become public tomorrow.
Don't worry — it's a hoax. Yes, it's still a hoax.

The latest Facebook privacy hoax message looks like this:

"Deadline tomorrow !!! Everything you've ever posted becomes public from tomorrow. Even messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. Channel 13 News talked about the change in Facebook's privacy policy. I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, messages or posts, both past, and future. With this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 11 308-103 and the Rome Statute.) NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. just copy and paste."
You may have seen some of your friends started posting the above Facebook "Privacy Notice" on their timelines, clarifying that they no longer give Facebook permission to use their photos, personal information, blah blah…

Let me tell you one thing: the social media giant has made no such announcement; rather it has been made by one of you and people are spreading this all over Facebook.

What's more surprising is that even well-educated people, who understand how privacy policy of any company works, are also falling victims to this hoax and are posting this creepy message on their timeline and encouraging their friends to do the same.

Similar Facebook privacy notice hoax was circulated on the social network a few months back, and it's making the rounds again.
At that time in June, Facebook issued the following statement about this hoax:
"You may have seen a post telling you to copy and paste a notice to retain control over things you share on Facebook. Don't believe it. Our terms say clearly: You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook, and you can control how it's shared through your privacy and application settings. That's how it works, and this hasn't changed."

If you are concerned about your privacy on Facebook, the company provides settings that limit strangers, and of course the company itself, from accessing your posts, photos or content.

Go to the top-right corner of your Facebook timeline, click on the lock icon and run a Privacy Check for your Facebook profile. This will allow you to limit the audience for posts on Facebook and decide what information you want to share on your profile.

Thanks and stay blessed!

Microsoft creates its own FreeBSD VM Image for Azure Cloud Computing Platform

This year, Microsoft impressed the world with 'Microsoft loves Linux' announcements, like developing a custom Linux-based OS for running Azure Cloud Switch, selecting Ubuntu as the operating system for its Cloud-based Big Data services and bringing the popular Bash shell to Windows 10.
Now, the next big news for open-source community:
Microsoft has released its own custom distribution of FreeBSD 10.3 as a "ready-made" Virtual Machine image in order to make the operating system available directly from the Azure Marketplace.

FreeBSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) is an open source Unix-like advanced computer operating system used to power modern servers, desktops as well as embedded systems.

Until now, the only way for Azure customers to run FreeBSD was to make use of a custom image from outside of Azure (from the FreeBSD Foundation).

However, the new release makes it easier for Azure users to launch FreeBSD directly from the Azure Marketplace and get official support from Microsoft whenever necessary.

Why is it so important for FreeBSD to run on Azure?

install-freebsd-on-microsoft-azure

According to the company, it’s important for FreeBSD to run in Azure because many top-tier virtual appliance vendors develop their products on the operating system.

However, the key reason for building, testing, releasing and maintaining its own FreeBSD 10.3 image is to ensure its users have an enterprise service level agreement (SLA) for their "FreeBSD VMs running in Azure," says Jason Anderson, Principal PM Manager at Microsoft's Open Source Technology Center.

As shown in the image, just click on the +New on the Azure Marketplace tile on your dashboard, Type "FreeBSD 10.3" in the text search box, and here you are.

He also added that Microsoft did so to remove "burden" from the FreeBSD Foundation that fully relies on community contributions.

"We will continue to partner closely with the [FreeBSD] Foundation as we make further investments in FreeBSD on Hyper-V and Azure," Anderson said, as well as add "new Hyper-V features – stay tuned for more information on this!"
The company has previously worked on supporting FreeBSD on Hyper-V as a virtual machine that was aimed at ensuring software appliance partners' kit functioned smoothly in Azure that makes use of Hyper-V.

Thanks and stay blessed!

Have you ever suspected that Facebook is listening to your conversations through Microphone?

Have you ever felt Facebook is showing you very relevant ads about topics you’re only discussing around your phone?
If yes, then you may find this news worth reading.
Communications Professor Kelli Burns from the University of South Florida claims that Facebook is listening to all conversations people have while its app is open to serve more relevant ads for products related to what they are talking about.
However, the social networking giant responds it does listen to audio and collect information from users, but does not record or use sounds heard around people for targeted ads.
"Facebook does not use microphone audio to inform advertising or News Feed stories in any way," a Facebook spokesperson said. "Businesses are able to serve relevant ads based on people's interests and other demographic information, but not through audio collection."

Facebook rolled out a feature in May of 2014 when the company said that it might target ads "in the future" based on the use of your audio identification in posts.

Like if you post that you are listening to "Shake It Off," you might see an ad for Taylor Swift’s concert tour.

However, Burns isn’t convinced by Facebook’s claims and has accused the social media giant of using an audio collection tool to not only gather it simply of helping out users, but also listen in on everything users say to serve them with relevant ads.

Burns says that she tested the feature by discussing certain topics around the phone and discovered that the site appeared to show relevant ads based on the topic.

Burns' finding is supported by many users across the Internet, who also say that ads in their Facebook feed are related to things they spoke or discuss around their phone, but never searched for it on the Internet.

If you are also the one not convinced by Facebook’s claims, you can turn off this feature with relative ease.

Here’s how you can stop Facebook from listening to you:

For iPhone users: Go to the Settings → Facebook → Settings and Turn OFF Microphone.

Android users can use App Permissions to do so. For this: Go to Settings → Personal → Privacy and Safety → App Permissions → Microphone → Facebook and Turn OFF the slider.

Since these changes are done at the operating system level, Facebook can not turn the feature ON even if the social network wanted to.

Thanks and stay blessed!

Warning! 32 Million Twitter Passwords May Have Been Hacked and Leaked

The world came to know about massive data breaches in some of the most popular social media websites including LinkedIn, MySpace, Tumblr, Fling, and VK.com when an unknown Russian hacker published the data dumps for sale on the underground black marketplace.
However, these are only data breaches that have been publicly disclosed by the hacker.

I wonder how much more stolen data sets this Russian, or other hackers are holding that have yet to be released.

The answer is still unknown, but the same hacker is now claiming another major data breach, this time, in Twitter.

Login credentials of more than 32 Million Twitter users are now being sold on the dark web marketplace for 10 Bitcoins (over $5,800).

LeakedSource, a search engine site that indexes leaked login credentials from data breaches, noted in a blog post that it received a copy of the Twitter database from Tessa88, the same alias used by the hacker who provided it hacked data from Russian social network VK.com last week.

The database includes usernames, email addresses, sometimes second email addresses, and plain-text passwords for more than 32 Million Twitter accounts.

Twitter strongly denied the claims by saying that "these usernames and credentials were not obtained by a Twitter data breach" – their "systems have not been breached," but LeakedSource believed that the data leak was the result of malware.

"Tens of millions of people have become infected by malware, and the malware sent every saved username and password from browsers like Chrome and Firefox back to the hackers from all websites including Twitter," LeakedSource wrote in its blog post."
But, do you remember how Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Twitter account was compromised?

The hackers obtained Zuck's account credentials from the recent LinkedIn data breach, then broke his SHA1-hashed password string, tried on his several social media accounts and successfully hacked Zuckerberg’s Twitter and Pinterest account.

So, one possibility could also be that the alleged Twitter database dump of over 32 Million users is made up of already available records from the previous LinkedIn, MySpace and Tumblr data breaches.

The hacker might just have published already leaked data from other sites and services as a new hack against Twitter that actually never happened.

Whatever the reason is, the fact remain that hackers may have had their hands on your personal data, including your online credentials.

So, it’s high time you changed your passwords for all social media sites as well as other online sites if you are using the same password.

Thanks and stay blessed!

Connecting Your Domain to Your Blogger or Blogspot

Google provides free blogging if you sign up for their services, and allows you to point your personal domain to it. There are two parts to this process. First, setting up your blog account to permit this, and secondly, configuring the DNS for the domain with easy DNS.

Setting Up Your Blogspot Account

1. Log into your blog with Google

2. Click on the dropdown menu and choose SETTINGS
3. Under the PUBLISHING section, click on the +SET UP THIRD PARTY URL link
4. Enter your domain with www in front of it (i.e. www.easydnsdomain.com) and click SAVE

Once you've clicked on SAVE, you should see an error message similar to the following:

Within the error message you should see two sets of CNAME records. This is the information Google uses to verify that you are indeed the owner of the domain name. You will need to take these two records and put them into your DNS settings. *DO NOT CLOSE YOUR BLOG WINDOW WHILE YOU DO THIS!*

Setting Up Your easy DNS Account
  1. Log into your easyDNS account
  2. Click on the DNS link for said domain (this will bring you to the DNS SETTINGS page
  3. Click on the MODULAR EDITOR tab
  4. Click on the wrench tool for ALIASES CNAME RECORDS
This is where we enter the two CNAME records Google provided us on their error page (please see screenshot for Step 4 from above). Please note that both the www and the short string of numbers/letters will go under HOST while the ghs.google.com along with the longer string will go under ADDRESS.

5. Enter your CNAME records
6. Click NEXT

NOTE: You will see a greyed out error claiming xxxxx is not a valid server. This is normal and you can just ignore this.

7. Confirm your changes
Finalizing The Changes At Blogspot

Once you've put in the CNAME records within your DNS settings, you will need to go back to the blog window with the error message that should still be open. Please do the following:

1. Click on SAVE

You will notice that the error message has gone away. If this is the case then your domain name should be successfully connected to your blog, but you still have a few more steps to complete. If you are still seeing the error message then Google has failed to verify that you are the domain owner. At this point you have a few options. Google has multiple ways to verify domain ownership which is beyond the scope of this tutorial. You can either choose to troubleshoot this yourself through Google's help documents.

2. Go back to the Publishing section for your blog and click on EDIT
3. Check off the box and click SAVE

NOTE: The original connection to your domain just connects the root variation of said domain. To connect both the root and www. variation, you will need to check off the box.
